This was built for an art festival called Oerol on the island of Terschelling in Holland and was commissioned by the Rijkswaterstat. This building was made from Jute bags from the island and sand from right next to us to provide a solution to housing and dramatic tide shifts on the outer islands of Holland. Most buildings on the island are actually deconstructed, then reconstructed every year. Our building is also temporary but will decompose back into the ocean when the tide rises. A decomposable building!
This photo was taken after a one week completion, so we might look a little tired.
